Cape Argo Lighthouse

The Cape Arago Lighthouse (aka Cape Gregory Light) is located 12 miles southwest of North Bend and Coos Bay and one mile north of Cape Arago in Coos County.

It stands 100 feet above ocean on an islet just off Gregory Point and was buildt in 1934.

Although newest in terms of service, earlier structures were built on site in 1866 and 1908, both succumbing to weather and erosion.

It is not accessible to the public and was decommissioned in 2006. It is visible from the Oregon Coast Trail between Sunset Bay State Park and Shore Acres State Park, and from Bastendorff Beach County Park. An overlook a quarter of a mile south of the Sunset Bay campground entrance offers a good view.

Cape Arago Lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
